(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance.

In pursuance of the order dated 14.11.2022, petitioner No.1 Roshani and SI Navdeep Kaur, office of Superintendent of Police, Abohar are present.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that in fact, petitioner No.1 is more than 18 years of age and she has no age proof today, VISHNU 2022.11.16 17:24 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.

CRWP-10641-2022 -2as she passed 5th class long back and both the petitioners are, in fact, labourers. It is further submitted that a representation dated 27.10.2022 was made to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka (Annexure P-3) seeking necessary protection, but no action has been taken so far in the matter.

On a Court query, whether parents of petitioner No.1 have lodged any complaint against petitioner No.2, learned State counsel, on instructions from SI Navdeep Kaur, submits that no such complaint is received by the police.

Heard.

Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners and considering the fact that both the petitioners, who are present in the Court, have shown willingness to stay together, present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P-3) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances.
