Through this petition, a direction is sought to be issued to the official respondents to evict respondents No.8 to 31 from unauthorized possession of Panchayat land, in terms of the order dated 27.10.2022 passed by the Collector, Fazilka, in the proceedings initiated against respondents No.8 to 31, under Section 7 of the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961.

Learned State counsel informs this Court that 19 of the private respondents have filed appeals before the Commissioner to challenge therein the aforesaid order of the Collector dated 27.10.2022 and in such appeals, orders of status quo have been passed. He further submits that three of the private respondents have also filed similar appeals, which are listed for hearing before the Commissioner on 20.08.2025 and that qua the remaining PRINCE SAINI 2025.08.18 22:25 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CWP-24516-2024(O&M) -2one respondent, possession has already been taken by the State, in terms of the order of the Collector dated 27.10.2022.

In the light of the above, we are of the opinion that the interests of justice shall be served by disposing off this petition with a direction to the Joint Development Commissioner-cum-Commissioner, Punjab, Chandigarh to finally dispose of the aforesaid appeals filed before him by the private respondents on the next date fixed before him i.e. 08.10.2025 or within four weeks thereafter, in accordance with law.
