In the instant petition preferred under Arrticle 226 of the Constitution of India seeking quashing of the order dated 11.04.2022 (Annexure P-11) passed by respondent No.2- Superintendent, Central Jail, Faridkot.

The sole grievance which has been raised during the course of arrguments by the learned counsel for the petitioner, is that the petitioner was not granted the remission for the years 2004 and 2005, for the period in which he was behind bars.

Upon notice, the State has filed specific reply in the instant petition. In para 8 of the reply, it is specifically mentioned that the remission for the period of 2005/2006 was granted to the petitioner vide Annexure R/T-10 and R/T-11 respectively and in fact the petitioner has completed his entire sentence on 23.03.2017 after giving the benefit of remission as well SATYAWAN 2024.09.25 17:43 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CRWP-9998-2023 (O&M) as ordinary remissions. The relevant extract of para 8 of the reply reads as under :- "8.

The petitioner was readmitted in Jail as under trial in 2003. He was sentenced in FIR no. 178 dated 18.12.2002 U/s 15 NDPS Act on 14/05/2005. The petitioner was granted the benefit of government remission of year 2005/2006 attached as Annexure R/T-10 and R/T-11 while undergoing sentence in FIR no. 178 dated 18.12.2002 and the sentence was completed on 23.03.2017 after giving the benefit of Government as well as ordinary remission."

In view of the above, since the petitioner has already completed his sentence, no further order is required to be passed. 5.
