The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking directions to the respondents to promote him to the post of DSP on regular basis w.e.f. 24.07.2013.

The petitioner submits that he was promoted to the rank of DSP on 24.07.2013 on temporary basis and retired as DSP on 30.11.2014. He was not appointed as regular DSP because one criminal case was pending against him. The Investigating Officer conducted investigation and filed cancellation report. The complaint was dismissed as withdrawn by the trial Court. The respondent in 2023 prepared revised list of Inspectors, however, the petitioner has not been considered. Mr. Aman Dhir, DAG, Punjab, who on advance notice is present in Court, submits that representation of petitioner is pending and it would be considered within 08 weeks from today in the light of revised seniority list of Inspectors as well as cancellation of FIR against the petitioner.
