Prayer in the present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of writ in the nature of habeas corpus and appointment of Warrant Officer with roving mandate to trace and secure the production of detenue - Charanjit singh (husband of petitioner No.1 and father of petitioner No.2) and for issuance of directions to respondent Nos.2 & 3 to ensure the immediate release of the detenue from the residence of private respondent Nos.4 & 5. 2.

Detenue - Charanjit Singh has been produced in Court today. He has stated that he wants to stay with respondent Nos.4 & 5 (his sister and brother-in-law) and does not want to live with the petitioners. He has further stated that he wants to accompany respondent Nos.4 & 5 and to live at their place. Respondent No.4 - Sumit Kaur is also present in Court and has stated that she and her husband - respondent No.5 are also willing to keep detenue - Charanjit Singh in their house. 3.
