Prayer in the instant petition is for grant of regular bail to the petitioner in FIR No. 91, dated 05.07.2019, under Section 22 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Dailpura, District Bathinda. The learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the petitioner is in custody since 05.07.2019 and the prosecution evidence is yet to commence. He further submits that the petitioner is not involved in any other case of similar nature and even the recovery is just marginally higher than the commercial quantity.
The learned State counsel, on the other hand, while opposing the prayer of the petitioner, on instructions from ASI Kashmir Singh, has submitted that the trial has not been able to make much headway on account of the outbreak of the pandemic.

No ground of grant of concession of regular bail is made out. The petition stands dismissed. However, this Court is conscious and cannot be oblivious to the fact that due to the outbreak of the pandemic the functioning of the trial court has been severely restricted. Keeping in view that the petitioner has been in custody for almost 11⁄2 years the trial Court is directed to endeavour to conclude the trial within four months from the date of this order.
