(Oral) The petition has been filed seeking a direction to respondents no.1 to 6 to ensure protection of life and liberty of the petitioner as well as his family members since they apprehend threat at the hands of respondents no.7 to 18. 2.
Learned counsel contends that the petitioner was attacked by fivesix persons on 30.08.2024, who allegedly were supporters of local MLA/respondent no.7. Although an FIR No.01 dated 09.11.2024, under Sections 25/27 of Arms Act, Police Station Sadar Faridkot, District Faridkot, was lodged regarding the incident, but no action was taken on the petitioner's representation seeking protection of life and liberty of his and the family members.

Learned State counsel, on the contrary, contends that the petitioner is a history-sheeter and following five cases have been registered against him: Sr.

21.12.2020 341, 323, 148, Sadar Faridkot Pending Trial Besides, the allegations regarding threat to the life and liberty of the petitioner and his family members were inquired into, and the allegations were found not true. He has referred to status report, dated 24.02.2025, filed by Mr. Tarlochan Singh, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Faridkot, District Faridkot, to that effect. He further contends that in case the petitioner apprehends any threat to his or his family life and liberty in future, he can make an appropriate representation to the concerned respondents, which will be promptly looked into and appropriate action will be taken in accordance with law.

In view of the statement made, learned counsel for the petitioner has no objection to the petition being disposed of in terms thereof. 5.
