(ORAL) The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India inter alia for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus seeking transfer of enquiry proceedings against respondent No.8Rajpal, Ex-Sarpanch under the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 pending before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by respondent No.4Divisional Deputy Director, Patiala to an independent agency i.e. Vigilance Bureau (respondent No.3) for a fair and impartial probe into the embezzlement and misappropriation of huge funds of Gram Panchayat Baupur, Tehsil Moonak, District Sangrur as well as misappropriation of panchayat record by respondent No.8- Rajpal, Ex-Sarpanch during his tenure from 2019-24 as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by respondent No.4 has failed to conclude the enquiry within a reasonable period. 1.1 A further prayer has been made for directing the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by respondent No.4- Divisional Deputy HIMANI GUPTA 2025.08.22 13:54 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Director, Patiala to conclude the enquiry proceedings against respondent No.8Rajpal, Ex-Sarpanch, expeditiously in a time bound manner. 2.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner restricts his prayer to the alternate relief sought in the instant writ petition i.e. for directing the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by respondent No.4- Divisional Deputy Director, Patiala to conclude the enquiry proceedings against respondent No.8- Rajpal, Ex-Sarpanch, expeditiously in a time bound manner. 3.

On advance service of copy of petition, Mr. Nirmaljit Singh Diwana, Sr. DAG, Punjab, appears on behalf of the respondent(s)-State. 4.

Learned State counsel, on instructions from Mr. Arun Sharma, Divisional Deputy Director (PR), Patiala, submits that the aforesaid Special Investigation Team (SIT) shall conclude the enquiry proceedings within a period of three months from today.

Keeping in view the aforesaid statement made by learned State counsel, the present petition is disposed of accordingly. 6.
