MANJARI NEHRU KAUL , J. (ORAL) Petitioners are seeking issuance of directions to respondent No.2 to protect their life and liberty at the hands of private respondents.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that a representation was given on 04.09.2024 (Annexure P-2) followed by another representation on 20.09.2024 (Annexure P-3) to the police authorities, however, it had failed to yield any response. It has been submitted that the official respondents were under a legal obligation to pass an appropriate order on his complaint. Learned counsel submits that the petitioners would be satisfied if directions are issued to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, District Barnala, to look into the representation dated 20.09.2024 (Annexure P-3) of the petitioners and take appropriate steps in accordance with law. 3.

In the wake of the limited prayer of the petitioners, the instant petition is disposed of and respondent No.2Senior Superintendent of Police, District Barnala, is directed to look into the grievance of the petitioners and take appropriate steps, if any required, under the provisions of law. However, if respondent No.2 does not find any substance in the allegations levelled in the representation dated 20.09.2024 (Annexure P-3), then the petitioners shall be duly informed as per the parameters laid down by the Supreme Court in Lalita Kumari v. Government of Uttar Pradesh & Ors. 2013 (4) RCR (Criminal) 979.
