(Oral) This petition under Article 226 of Constitution of India has been filed seeking direction to the official respondents No.1 to 4 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners and their family members at the hands of respondent No.5 along with his companions and take action on their representation dated 16.09.2024 (Annexure P-2). 2.

At the very outset, learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioners have filed a representation dated 16.09.2024 before the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar (Annexure P-2) raising their grievances as mentioned in the present petition but the same has not yet been considered and no action has been taken thereon. He further submitted that at this stage, the petitioners would be satisfied if appropriate directions are issued to respondent No.-4 Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, to decide the aforesaid representation filed by the petitioners and take necessary action thereon.

At the asking of the Court, Mr. Gurpartap Singh Bhullar, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondent(s)-State and submits that the needful will be done in due course. At this stage, learned State counsel had supplied short reply dated 02.10.2024 in Court today, which is taken on record.

In view of the limited prayer made by the petitioners, without commenting anything on the merits of the case, the present petition is disposed of at this stage with a direction to respondent No.4 to decide the aforesaid representation dated 16.09.2024 (Annexure P-2) of the petitioners expeditiously, by passing a speaking order in accordance with law. 6.

Needless to say, if any threat is found to the petitioners, the official respondents would provide them adequate security in order to protect their life and liberty.
