By way of instant petition, petitioner has approached this Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India inter-alia for issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari for quashing order dated 07.08.2024,Annexure P-7, passed by respondent No.2 and for directing respondent No.2 to issue a fresh passport to the petitioner. 2.

At the outset, counsel for respondents No.1 and 2 has raised an objection that the Regional Passport Officer, Amritsar-respondent No.2 has rejected the application submitted by the petitioner by passing detailed order, Annexure P-7, against which an appeal lies under Section 11 of the Passports Act, 1967. She submits that the writ petition is not maintainable as the petitioner has an alternative remedy under the statute.
