1. The instant petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the service rendered by the petitioner as 'SPO' as qualifying service for the purpose of pensionary/retiral benefits.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the case of the petitioner is squarely covered by various judgments of this Court including judgment dated 15.2.2018 rendered in CWP-9936-2017 titled as Sukhjeet Singh and others Vs. The State of Punjab and others (Annexure P-5).
3. Notice of motion.

Pursuant to service of advance notice Mr. Inderpreet Singh Kang, AAG, Punjab has put in appearance on behalf of the respondents and has fairly submitted that the case of the petitioner shall be considered in accordance with the rules as well as the latest position of law. In view of the aforesaid submission, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 - Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, to consider and dispose of legal notice dated 21.8.2023 (Annexure P-7) in accordance with law and the settled position of law expeditiously preferably within a period of 3 months from today.
6. A copy of this order alongwith copy of legal notice dated 21.8.2023 (Annexure P-7) be sent to respondent No.2 - Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab for necessary compliance.
