Through the present writ petition, the petitioners, being the widows of deceased employees, seek a direction to the respondents to grant them family pension from the date of their husbands' demise, in light of the judgment dated 14.11.2023 (Annexure P-9) rendered in CWP-28133-2019 and connected writ petitions.

Upon notice, a short reply was filed on behalf of the respondent No.4- Divisional Engineer, informing that, pursuant to the petitioners' representations for the grant of family pension, a letter was addressed to the respondent No.3- Department of Finance, Government of Punjab. In response, the respondent No.3 accorded approval for the grant of family pension in favor of the petitioners, subject to certain conditions. Consequent thereto, the respondent No.4 issued a letter dated 09.02.2026 to the respondent No.2- Accountant General, Punjab, for the fixation and DEVINDER YADAV 2026.04.08 09:54 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment

CWP-24437-2025 disbursement of family pension in favour of the petitioners. 3.

Today, learned State counsel, upon instructions received from Mr. Anil Kumar Swami, Sr. Accounts Officer, Office of the Accountant General, Punjab, has apprised the Court that the office of the Accountant General has authorized the petitioners' pension cases and sent the same to the concerned District Treasury Officer. It is submitted that the family pension shall be released to the petitioners in due course. 4.

In view of the supervening positive developments, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that he does not wish to press the present writ petition at this stage.

Accordingly, the present writ petition is dismissed as withdrawn at this stage, with liberty reserved to the petitioners to file an appropriate application for revival of the writ petition in case there occurs any inordinate delay in release of family pension.
