(Oral) The present revision petition has been filed under Article 227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a direction to the learned Principal Judge, Family Court, Rupnagar to conclude the trial of case HMA No.407/21 titled 'Hardeep Kumar vs. Saroj'.

Learned counsel for the petitioner would contend that the case has been pending since 12.11.2021 and hence, as per the provisions of Section 21B (2) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, the Court be directed to try the matter expeditiously, preferably within a period of six months. In support of his contention, learned counsel for the petitioner has relied upon order dated 23.08.2018 passed by this Court in CR No.4779 of 2018. Heard.

Undoubtedly, Section 21B of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 provides for expeditious hearing of matrimonial disputes. However, this Court cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that 877 marriage petitions are pending in the Family Court, Rupnagar as per data available on the National Judicial Data Grid. No exceptional ground has been pointed out by the learned counsel for the petitioner for stealing a march over the 877 matters already pending before the Court.
