The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent No. 3 to issue passport.

The petitioner was issued passport on 30.3.2022 which is valid upto 29.03.2032. The petitioner during travel abroad has lost his passport and he came back to India on Emergency Travel Document. The petitioner has applied for re-issuance of passport. Police verification report has already been received by passport authority still passport has not been issued.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner has to visit abroad on 22.10.2023, thus, he is in dire necessity of passport. PARAMJIT KAUR SAINI 2023.10.16 14:23 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment

Counsel for Union of India, who on advance notice is present in Court, submits that petitioner may be directed to appear before passport authority alongwith requisite documents who would look into the matter and pass an appropriate order expeditiously.

Learned counsel for the petitioner agrees to the aforesaid arrangement.

In the wake of statements of both sides, the petition stands disposed of. The petitioner is directed to appear before passport authority on 17.10.2023 alongwith all requisite documents and thereafter passport authority shall pass an appropriate order expeditiously.
