MANJARI NEHRU KAUL , J. (ORAL) Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that respondent No.4, after conniving with some unidentified assailants, entered the house of the petitioner and brutally assaulted him, as a result of which he sustained multiple injuries on his person including injuries on his head and his eye, for which he was medico legally examined at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. However, despite the incident being reported promptly to the police, they had been sitting over the matter and had not initiated any action against the alleged assailants. Learned counsel has also submitted that a representation dated 23.09.2024 had been given to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, however, it had been in vain.

After arguing for some time, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner would be satisfied if directions are issued to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, to look into the representation dated 23.09.2024 (Annexure P-4) of the PUNEET SACHDEVA 2024.10.15 12:57 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

On asking of the Court, Mr. Navdeep Singh, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents.

In the wake of the limited prayer of the petitioner, the instant petition is disposed of and respondent No.2Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, is directed to look into the grievance of the petitioner and take appropriate steps, if any required, at the earliest under the provisions of law. However, if respondent No.2 does not find any substance in the allegations levelled in the representation dated 23.09.2024 (Annexure P-4), then the petitioner shall be duly informed as per the parameters laid down by the Supreme Court in Lalita Kumari v. Government of Uttar Pradesh & Ors. 2013 (4) RCR (Criminal) 979.
