The present writ petition has been preferred under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents No.1 to 4 to postpone the election of all the 89 Gram Panchayats falling in Block Batala, Gurdaspur and also of all the 101 Gram Panchayats falling in Block Fatehgarh Churian, Gurdaspur and to make necessary arrangements with regard to issuance of documents to the aspiring candidates, who are facing difficulty in submitting their nomination forms.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the grievance of the petitioner, who is representing all the 108 Gram Panchayats in Block Batala, Gurdaspur and 101 Gram Panchayats falling in Block Fatehgarh Churian, Gurdaspur, have not been redressed till date despite repeated SANDAL SHARMA 2024.10.07 16:20 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment

CWP-26229-2024 (O&M) -2-  representations. He has however submitted that they are ready to appear before the Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur for redressal of their grievance.

In view of the above, in the case the petitioner/representative of Gram Panchayats appear before respondent No.4-Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur-cum-District Electoral Officer, Gurdaspur, within a period of two days from today and file a joint-representation, the same shall be decided by passing a speaking order by respondent No.4 expeditiously by 12.10.2024 in accordance with law.
