**** JASJIT SINGH BEDI , J. (Oral) The prayer in the present petition under Section 482 of Cr.P.C. is for quashing of the FIR No.20 dated 27.01.2019 (Annexure P-1) under Sections 170, 420 and 465 of IPC, registered at Police Station Gharinda, Amritsar.

The learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the petitioner has been falsely implicated in the present case. Be that as it may, the complainant, who is one Mohit Khanna, Major, Brigade, GSO-1, does not wish to press the present prosecution, and a communication (Annexure P-3) has been sent by him to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar, seeking permission for withdrawal of the FIR. He therefore prays that the FIR and all consequential proceedings arising therefrom be quashed. CRM-M-48284-2019 communication to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar, for withdrawal of the FIR, and therefore the FIR may be quashed. In view of the fact that, pursuant to the registration of the FIR, the complainant - Mohit Khanna, Major, Brigade GSO-1 himself has written to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar, seeking withdrawal of the FIR, and this fact has been admitted by the counsel for the respondent No.2/Union of India in Court today, no useful purpose would be served by allowing the proceedings emanating from FIR No.20 dated 27.01.2019 (Annexure P-1) under Sections 170, 420 and 465 of IPC, registered at Police Station Gharinda, Amritsar, and all consequential proceedings arising therefrom to continue. Therefore, the same stand quashed.
