The petitioner joined Punjab Police as Constable on 23.07.1992. He came to be implicated in FIR No.22 dated 24.06.2018 under Section 22/61/84 of NDPS Act registered at PS Mattewal, District Amritsar Rural. The respondent initiated departmental inquiry against him for absence from duty. The Inquiry Officer found him guilty. He was issued show cause notice proposing punishment. The Disciplinary Authority vide order dated 31.03.2021 imposed penalty of forfeiture of five years approved service towards increment. The Investigating Officer filed police report in the aforesaid FIR. Learned Additional Sessions Judge, Amritsar vide judgment dated 14.12.2021 acquitted the petitioner on the ground that prosecution has failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt. CWP-26081-2025 -2an appeal before Appellate Authority against punishment of forfeiture of five increments. The Appellate Authority reduced the punishment from forfeiture of five increments to forfeiture of two increments with permanent effect. The petitioner further preferred revision before DGP who vide impugned order dated 07.03.2025 dismissed his revision. The DGP formed an opinion that case of petitioner falls under Clause (b) of sub-rule (1) of Rule 16.3 of Punjab Police Rules, 1934. 2.
Learned counsel for the petitioner seeks permission to withdraw the petition.
