Notice of motion.

On the asking of court, Mr. Sahil Sharma, DAG Punjab, who is present in court, accepts notice.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner deposited the requisite amount for allotment of Regd. No. PB-77-7777 for his scooter. The receipts in this respect have been annexed as annexure P-4. According to him, the registering authority is not doing the needful for the reasons best known to it.

Learned State counsel submits that matter shall be looked into by the Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur and appropriate steps shall be taken within a week.

In view of above, petition is disposed of. It is, however, made clear that in case it is found that rightful claim of the petitioner has been arbitrarily rejected, the court shall consider imposition of punitive costs on the officer found responsible.
