(ORAL) The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India inter alia seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus for directing the respondents to re-issue the passport of the petitioner, applied by him vide application reference No.24-0008907742 dated 06.06.2024.

Learned counsel appearing for the respondents has handed over a copy of letter dated 03.09.2025, issued by the Assistant Passport Officer, Regional Passport Office, Jalandhar, addressed to the petitioner, whereby an explanation has been called from the petitioner. The same is taken on record, subject to all just exceptions.

2.1 While referring to letter dated 03.09.2025, learned counsel for the respondents submits that in case, the petitioner submits a justifiable explanation to the letter dated 03.09.2025, the application for re-issuance of HIMANI GUPTA 2025.09.10 10:06 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

the passport, submitted by the petitioner, would be processed further and final decision shall be taken thereon in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date when such explanation would be submitted by the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner does not raise any objection to the aforesaid course of action being adopted. 4.

Keeping in view the aforesaid submissions made by learned counsel for the respondents, the present writ petition is disposed of accordingly.

It goes without saying that in case, the petitioner submits a justifiable explanation in pursuance of letter dated 03.09.2025, a final decision on the application seeking re-issuance of the passport, submitted by the petitioner, be taken within a period of eight weeks from the date when such explanation is tendered by the petitioner.
