CRWP-9498-2025 Prayer made in this petition is for directing the respondents to decide the case of the petitioner for grant of benefit of premature release as per the instructions issued by Government of Punjab. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that the petitioner was convicted in FIR No.77 dated 29.04.2001 for the offences under Sections 302, 458, 459 and 460 IPC registered at Police Station Sirhind District Fatehgarh Sahib. She contends that the petitioner has already undergone total sentence of 18 years and even though his case for premature release has been sent by Superintendent of Central Jail, Ludhiana to the Government in accordance with the instructions of Punjab Government dated 08.07.1991, on 15.01.2025, however, no decision has been taken thereupon so far. Learned State counsel has no objection to the aforesaid prayer being accepted.

On hearing counsel for the parties, the present petition is disposed of without commenting on the merits of the case and with the consent of the parties with a direction to the respondent-State of Punjab to decide the pending case for premature release of the petitioner within a period of three months on the receipt of certified copy of this order. 7.

The petition is disposed of.
