The prayer in the instant criminal writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is for the issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from respondents No.4 to 8 and not to interfere in their married life.

Mr. Karan Veer Singh, Sr.DAG, Haryana, accepted notice on behalf of respondent-State and submitted that the statements of the private respondents have been recorded and they have no objection regarding the marriage of the petitioners.

In this regard, this Court has already given the directions in Asha and another vs. State of Haryana and another, CWP No.6717 of 2009, decided on 25.07.2012 and in compliance of the same, the State Government had taken steps to protect the life and liberty of run away couple.

Apart from that the State of Haryana vide notification dated 17.02.2025 also notified the SOPs for the protection of life and liberty of the petitioners in similar situations, in compliance of the Criminal Writ Petition No.12562 of 2023 titled as Kajal Vs. State of Haryana and others". 7.

In view of the above, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioners to approach the competent authority where they are residing in the State of Haryana or Punjab and the authority will provide them protection in terms of Asha's case (supra) and notification dated 17.02.2025.
