Prayer in the instant petition filed under Section 226 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of a writ in the nature of Habeas Corpus to release the detenue from the illegal custody of respondent Nos.4 and 5.

Learned State counsel, on instructions from SI Amarjit Singh, while drawing the attention of this Court to the statement of the alleged detenue and submitted that she has categorically made a statement that she is residing happily with her parents and did not wish to meet much less live with the petitioner, who had been pressurizing her to marry him. Statement of the alleged detenue filed by the learned counsel for the State in Court today is taken on record.
