CM-6724-2026 in/and CWP-26101-2025 (O&M) -2directing the respondent authorities to initiate proceedings against private respondents No.5 to 10 under Section 20 of Punjab Panchayati Raj Act. 2.

Learned Senior counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that during the pendency of the present writ petition, the concerned Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO), Amritsar, has issued a letter dated 20.02.2026 (Annexure P-15), recommending action against respondents No.5 to 10 herein under Section 20(4) of the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994.

2.1 Learned Senior counsel while referring to the said letter (Annexure P-15) submits that the present petition may be disposed of by directing the authorities to conclude the proceedings in furtherance to the letter dated 20.02.2026 (Annexure P-15) in a time bound manner. 3.

On the other hand, learned State counsel submits that in case the said recommendation has been received at the concerned quarters, the same shall be looked into and the proceedings already initiated would be taken to its logical end (subject to any legal impediment/order passed by higher authority/Court), within a period of four months from today, after affording due opportunity of hearing to all concerned parties, in accordance with law. 4.

Keeping in view the aforesaid stand taken by learned State counsel, no further order is required to be passed in the present writ petition and the same is disposed of accordingly.
