The prayer in the present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is for the issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondent Nos.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners endangered at the hands of private respondent Nos.4 to 6. 2.

The learned State counsel, at the very outset, submits that the statements of the petitioners have been recorded, as per which they do not require any protection.
