The instant petition has been filed on behalf of the petitioners seeking issuance of directions to the official respondents to provide protection to the petitioners as they apprehend threat to their lives and liberty at the hands of the private respondents.

Mr. Prabhdeep Singh Dhaliwal, AAG, Punjab has put in appearance on behalf of the respondent - State pursuant to an advance notice having been served upon the official respondents. Learned State counsel stated that the matter was briefly inquired into and statements of the petitioners and also of private respondent i.e. respondents No.4 to 6 have been recorded and that while respondents No.4 to 6 have expressed that they do not have any objection to the marriage of the petitioners, the petitioners have expressed that they do not have any kind of threat to their lives and liberty as of now.
