KRISHNA MURARI, C.J. (ORAL) The petitioner, who has approached this Court in Public Interest, submits at the outset that as the Union of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education and Literacy, New Delhi, through its Secretary, is necessary in context of the issue and the same be arrayed as a party. The prayer is granted. And, the Union of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of

School Education and Literacy, New Delhi, through its Secretary, is arrayed as respondent No. 4 in the petition at hands. Notice of motion.

Ms. Monika Chhibber Sharma, Senior Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, and Mr. Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India, assisted by Dr. Parveen Hans, Advocate, present in Court, accept notices on behalf of respondents No. 1 to 3 and respondent No. 4 respectively.

In the nature of the order we propose to pass in the matter, no formal written statements/counter affidavits are indeed necessary at this stage. And, the petition is being disposed of finally with the consent of the parties.

In brief, the petitioner prays for a mandamus requiring the respondents to release the amounts/grant to the various government schools for providing free of cost uniform to the students who belong to SC/ST category and even those from BPL families and girls studying in Class 1st to 8th particularly as the winter session has set in and the time is the essence of the situation.

In response, learned counsel for the respondents submit that let this petition be disposed of at this stage only with a direction to the respondents to look into the grievance of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law.

In the wake of the above, we dispose of this petition with a direction to the respondents to consider and deal with the concerns raised

by the petitioner herein and pass suitable orders within two weeks from today.
