(ORAL) Prayer in the instant petition filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of directions to respondents No.2 to 5, to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner and his wife at the hands of respondents No.6 and 7 (son and daughter-in-law of the petitioners).

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner and his wife, who are senior citizens, are being continuously threatened with dire consequences by none other than their own son and his wife arraigned as respondents No.6 and 7, in which regard as many as three representations including representation dated 14.10.2024 (Annexure P-4) was given to the authorities concerned, however, till date no steps have been initiated by the official respondents to come to the rescue of the petitioner and his wife. Learned counsel submits that the petitioner and his wife, therefore, continue to live under threat. After arguing for some time, learned counsel submits that the petitioner would be satisfied if directions are issued to respondent No.3-Senior Superintendent of Police, Fatehgarh Sahib, to look into his representation (Annexure P-4) and take appropriate steps at the earliest.

On asking of the Court, Mr. Navdeep Singh, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents.

In view of the above, the present petition is disposed of with a directions to respondent No.3-Senior Superintendent of Police, Fatehgarh Sahib, to look into the representation dated 14.10.2024 (Annexures P-4) qua the alleged threat perception and take appropriate steps, if any required, at the earliest, in accordance with law, to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioner and his wife is not jeopardized.
