(ORAL) Apprehending danger to their life and liberty, both the petitioners have filed the present petition with a prayer to direct the official respondents to protect their life and liberty from the hands of private respondents No. 4 to 10 as they are living in live-in relationship.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that both the petitioners are major, petitioner No.1 is stated to be born on 01.09.2007. Date of birth of petitioner No.2 is 25.01.2000. Copies of their Aadhar Cards have been annexed as Annexures P-1 and P-2, respectively. It is further submitted that petitioner No.2 is unmarried. However, marriage of petitioner No.1 was forcibly solemnized with respondent No.8 on 04.08.2025. On 26.08.2025, when petitioner No.1 disclosed to respondent No.8 that her marriage is forcibly solemnized with him (respondent No.8), she (petitioner No.1) was beaten by respondents No.8 to 10 and confined in a room. On 03.09.2025, petitioner No.1 left her house and started living in live-in relationship with petitioner No.2.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Kamalpreet Bawa, DAG Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos.1 to 3 and has no objection in deciding the representation filed on behalf of the petitioners. 6.

Without commenting upon the merits of the case and in view of the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioners, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation dated 04.09.2025 (Annexure P-3) within a period of two weeks. In case, it is found that there is a genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken at the earliest, so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners. 7.
