MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J. (ORAL) Petitioner is seeking issuance of directions to the official respondents to provide him adequate security cover, who is constantly receiving threats from unknown persons.

Learned senior counsel for the petitioner, inter alia, contends that an FIR had been registered against unknown persons at the instance of the petitioner in view of the continuous threats that he had been received from different mobile numbers, purportedly with SIM cards of overseas service providers. Learned senior counsel has submitted that even after the FIR in question was registered on 07.10.2023, the alleged threats through different mobile phone were being made to the petitioner and qua the same, the official respondents had been duly intimated but in vain.

Learned senior counsel, after arguing for some time, submits that it is thus apparent that there is a genuine imminent threat to his life and liberty and hence, appropriate directions be issued to the PUNEET SACHDEVA 2024.10.28 17:43 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Navdeep Singh, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the State.

In view of the prayer of the learned senior counsel for the petitioner, the instant petition is disposed of with directions to respondent No.3-Commissioner of Police, Commissionerate Amritsar, to look into the representation dated 26.09.2023 (Annexure P-4) of the petitioner with regard to the alleged threat perception and take appropriate steps, as may be required, in accordance with law, at the earliest preferably within the next two weeks, to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioner is not jeopardized.
