This is a petition under Section 439 Cr.P.C. seeking regular bail in case FIR No.157 dated 19.5.2020 under Sections 363/366-A IPC (Sections 420/467/471 IPC added later on), registered at Police Station Verowal, District Tarn Taran.

Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the FIR was lodged on the statement of Jaswinder Singh, father of Navjot Kaur. Later on, offences under Sections 420, 467 and 471 IPC were added alleging forgery of the record/aadhaar card by the petitioner's wife. It has also come on record that the petitioner married to Navjot Kaur, complainant's daughter, against the wishes of her parents. The parties filed a protection petition before the Additional Sessions Judge, Amritsar. Both of them appeared before the Sessions Judge and made a statement that they have no threat from respondents no.3 to 9 and are living happily. The petitioner was arrested on 21.6.2022. Challan in the case has been filed against him on 19.9.2022, and the other accused, petitioner's wife, is yet to be arrested as her pre-arrest bail has been declined by the Sessions Court ASHWANI KUMAR 2023.01.04 17:16 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

In view of the aforesaid and keeping in view the fact that the petitioner is in custody for about six months and the trial of the case will take a long time to conclude, this Court is of the view that he deserves to be released on bail.
