The instant petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus seeking directions to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of private respondents. 2.

Learned State counsel in compliance of order dated 29.10.2024 has filed a short reply by way of affidavit of Sh.Kulwinder Singh, PPS Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub-Division Mukerian, District Hoshiarpur on behalf of respondents-State and the same is taken on record subject to all just exceptions.

Learned State counsel has at the outset drawn the attention of this Court to the contents of the paragraph 4 of the affidavit and submitted that both the petitioners are adults; statements of respondents No.4 and 5 had been recorded and they had categorically stated that they had no objection to the marriage solemnized between the petitioners.
