The present petition has been filed under Article 226/227 of Constitution of India seeking directions in the nature of mandamus directing respondent Nos.1 to 4 to to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner's husband namely-Jarnail Singh @ Jaila, who is presently confined in Central Jail, Faridkot, from the unlawful acts of torture and assault inflicted upon him by certain jail inmates. 2.

At the very outset, learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied if appropriate directions are issued to respondent No.2-Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Prisons Punjab to look into the grievances made by the petitioner. 3.
