(ORAL) This petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of directions to respondents No. 1 to 3 to protect the life and liberty of petitioner Amanpreet Kaur as well as Sukhraj Singh son of Sarbjeet Singh from the hands of respondents No. 4 to 9, who are close family members of the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the date of birth of petitioner Amanpreet kaur is 4.4.1993 and presently she is residing with Sukhraj Singh in live-in relationship since one year and wants to solemnize marriage with him but respondents No. 4 to 9 being her close family members want to perform marriage of the petitioner against her wishes. It is further stated that they have been facing threat from the family members of the petitioner and in this regard, the petitioner has also moved a representation dated 28.11.2019 (Annexure P-1) to Senior Superintendent of GURPREET SINGH 2019.12.06 16:54 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document chandigarh

Without commenting upon the marital status or live-in relationship of the petitioner with Sukhraj Singh, I dispose of the petition with directions to respondent No. 2 to decide the representation of the petitioner, Annexure P-1 and grant protection to her and Sukhraj Singh son of Sarbjeet Singh, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioner and Sukhraj Singh from legal action for violation of law if any committed by them.
