This writ petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India inter-alia for issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari for setting aside report dated 11.03.2024, Annexure P-7, submitted by the respondent No.4 to respondent No.3, whereby the authorities have not recommended the grant of firearms license. 2.
When the matter came up for hearing on 04.11.2024, the following order was passed:- "Advance copy of the petition has been served upon the respondents.
State counsel has placed on record a copy of order dated 28.10.2024, passed by the District Magistrate, Sirsa, to submit that the application for grant of firearms license, submitted by the petitioner, KAMAL SHARMA 2024.12.17 15:55 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment High Court, Chandigarh.
CWP-29534-2024 -2has been rejected. He submits that petitioner has an alternative remedy of filing an appeal under Section 18 of the Arms Act, 1959.
Request for deferment has been made on behalf of the arguing counsel for the petitioner. List on 17.12.2024."

It is evident from the above reproduced order that the petitioner has an alternative statutory remedy, which he has not availed. 4.
In view of the above, writ petition is dismissed. However, liberty is granted to the petitioner to take recourse to the statutory remedy available to him under the Arms Act, 1959.
