Prayer in the present petition is for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the officials respondents to release the petitioner prematurely, in view of the Government Pre-Mature Policy dated 13.08.2008 (Annexure P-1).
Short reply by way of an affidavit dated 12.11.2021 of the Superintendent, Central Jail, Ambala, filed on behalf of the respondentState, in the Registry, is taken on record. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was convicted under Sections 302 and 201 IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act, and sentenced to undergo rigourous imprisonment for life, out of which he has already undergone more than 16 years. At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioner restricts his argument to the issuance of directions to the official respondents for consideration of the petitioner's matter, for pre-mature release, in view of AMAN JAIN 2021.12.07 16:59 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Learned State counsel submits that, as per Clause (a)(xi) of the Pre-Mature Release Policy dated 13.08.2008, the petitioner is not eligible for pre-mature release, inasmuch as, he has not completed the actual sentence of 20 years.
I have heard the learned counsel for the parties. Keeping in view the limited relief sought for above, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the Director General of Prisons, Haryana, to consider the petitioner's case for pre-mature release, in view of the Government Pre-Mature Policy dated 13.08.2008 and decide the same within 2 months from the date of receipt of the copy of this order.
