Through the instant petition, as instituted under Section 482 of the Cr.P.C., the petitioner craves for issuance of directions upon the official respondents to conduct a fair and impartial inquiry in the matter concerned, through constituting a SIT/Special Task Force. In addition, a prayer is also made for issuance of directions upon the official respondents to decide the representation (Annexure P-2) of the petitioners, as made on 02.11.2023.

In response to the instant petition, the respondent-State filed a reply dated 11.01.2024, on affidavit of Avtar Singh, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abohar (Rural), District Fazilka, thus taking a stand therein that, they are in the process of completing the inquiry, as became initiated on petitioner's application, and that, appropriate action will be taken thereon.

On 30.07.2024, the learned State counsel was directed to inform this Court about the expected time for completion of the inquiry. Accordingly, today the learned State counsel has, on instructions imparted to him by A.S.I. Bhupinder Singh, informed this Court that the inquiry has already been completed and an FIR bearing No.175 dated 21.08.2024, under Section 306, 34 of the IPC, has also been registered at P.S. City 1, Abohar, District Ferozepur.

On account of the supervening events (supra), the learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he does not want to press the instant petition.

Consequently, the instant petition is dismissed, as not pressed.
