The instant fourth petition has been filed under Section 483 of BNSS, 2023 (corresponding Section 439 of Cr.P.C.), for grant of regular bail to the petitioner - Baljeet Singh @ Laddu, who has been booked for having committed the offence punishable under Section 22 of NDPS Act, 1985, in FIR No. 243, dated 20.08.2022, registered at Police Station Sahnewal, District Ludhiana.

In the present case, there is recovery of 99,000 intoxicant tablets from the possession of the petitioner and as per FSL report Diphenoxylate Hydrochloride is found present in the said narcotic contraband recovered from the petitioner, which falls under the commercial category. 3.

At this stage, learned State counsel has filed the status report dated 18.04.2026 in Court today, which is taken on record. Office to tag the same at appropriate place.

This Court has been apprised that out of total 19 cited prosecution witnesses, 12 have already been examined, whereas 07 were given up.

Considering the fact that the petitioner is inside the jail since 20.08.2022, i.e., for a period of about 03 years and 08 months, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the learned trial Court to expedite the trial proceedings.

Accordingly, learned trial Court is directed to proceed with the trial on a day-to-day basis and to conclude the same as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order.

Petition stands disposed of in the aforesaid terms. Pending misc. application(s), if any, also stand disposed of. 6.

Let a copy of this order be forwarded to the learned trial Court concerned for information and compliance.
