Mr. Navneet Singh, Sr. Deputy Advocate General, Punjab. ****         Learned Senior Deputy Advocate General appearing for the respondent-State of Punjab submits that further investigation is still going on in the matter by the respondent-authorities and they are making all efforts to search out the missing girl and are also taking all possible steps to ensure that investigation reaches to its logical conclusion. It is observed that about five years have passed and the respondent-authorities have filed a status report previously and they were directed to file the current status report but inspite of best efforts the authorities are not able to find any evidence as to the whereabouts of the missing girl.

In the circumstances, as the proceedings were taken up by this Court suo-motu and in view of the status report filed before this Court and the steps taken by the authorities, the matter is directed to be confined to records with a direction to the respondent-authorities to take all possible steps to ensure that the investigation reaches to its logical conclusion at the earliest.

The writ petition is disposed of.
