Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner applied for parole in January, 2019 and till date, matter is pending before District Magistrate, Tarn Taran due to non-submission of report by the police. Now, a letter has been written by the District Magistrate, Tarn Taran asking the police to send the report at the earliest. Earlier, in similar petition filed by the petitioner, respondents were directed to decide the application of petitioner for his release on parole as per instructions issued by the State Government. After passing of that order on 14.03.2019, no further action appears to have been taken on his application. District Magistrate, Tarn Taran has also issued letter (Annexure P-1) only on receipt of notice sent by counsel for the petitioner.

Keeping in view the above facts and circumstances but without expressing any opinion on merits, this petition is disposed of with direction to respondents to decide the application/representation of petitioner within four weeks. District Magistrate, Tarn Taran will proceed to decide the application/representation of petitioner, even if the police abstain from submitting any report.
