The petitioner has approached this Court seeking grant of regular bail in respect of a case registered vide FIR No.379 dated 27.9.2019 at Police Station Narnaud under Section 18 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, wherein it has been alleged that he was found in possession of 1 kilogram of 'opium'.

The learned State counsel has informed that challan already stands presented although charges are yet to be framed.

Keeping in view the fact that the quantity of contraband recovered falls within the category of 'non-commercial' quantity and that conclusion of trial is likely to take some time since charges have not been framed, further detention of the petitioner will not serve any useful purpose.
