The petitioner has approached this Court seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider his case for grant of pre-mature release in terms of policy dated 8.7.1991. 2.

As per reply filed on behalf of the State, the case of the petitioner is under consideration. Para No.7 of the reply reads as follows:- "7. That in reply to the contents of Para No.7 it is submitted that the petitioner has just completed the mandatory sentence required for initiating the pre-mautre release case and his case for pre-mature release has been forwarded to the O/o The Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) Punjab, Chandigarh vide this office letter No.3458 dated 06.02.19 for consideration as per Letter No.G.I./J6/2412/38 dated 15.03.16 of the O/o The Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) Punjab, Chandigarh."
