(ORAL) Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner retired on attaining the age of superannuation on 30.11.2016, but his retiral benefits were released only starting from December, 2017 onwards. Learned counsel for the petitioner further submits that amount of leave encashment was released to the petitioner on 16.12.2017; amount of GIS was released on 16.07.2018 and the gratuity was released to the petitioner on 09.05.2017 and therefore, as there is unreasonable delay in the release of the pensionary benefits of the petitioner, he is entitled for interest on the delayed payments keeping in view the law laid down by the Full Bench of this Court in A.S. Randhawa Vs. State of Punjab and others, 1997(3) SCT 468.

In view of the request made, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case or the claim being made by the petitioner, the respondents are directed to decide the legal notice dated 20.12.2018 (Annexure P-1) by passing a speaking order within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order. Present writ petition stands disposed of.
