(ORAL) The petitioners are seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus for issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect their life and liberty at the hands of the accused persons in FIR No.254 dated 21.05.2022 under Sections 148, 149, 323, 307, 342, 427, 506, 120-B of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act, registered at Police Station Adarsh Nagar, Faridabad.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioner Nos.2 and 3 are material witnesses in the FIR in question and are being constantly threatened with dire consequences by the accused persons that in case they do not compromise the dispute and do not withdraw the FIR in question, they would have to face serious consequences. Learned counsel has further submitted that despite repeated representations given to the official respondents with respect to the threats being extended, they have failed to come to their rescue. After arguing for some time, learned counsel for the petitioners restricts her prayer for issuance of directions to respondent No.3-Commissioner of Police, Faridabad, to look into the representation dated 06.10.2024 (Annexure P-3) of the petitioners and take appropriate steps in accordance with law. 4.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Gagandeep Singh Chhina, Assistant Advocate General, Haryana, accepts notice on behalf of the State.

In view of the restricted prayer of the learned counsel for the petitioners, the instant petition is disposed of with directions to respondent No.3-Commissioner of Police, Faridabad, to look into the representation dated 06.10.2024 (Annexure P-3) of the petitioners and take appropriate steps, if required, at the earliest, in accordance with law.
