The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India read with Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 1962 and the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Rules 1963 for issuance of writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents to release the petitioner on parole for a period of six weeks to make necessary arrangements for the marriage of his daughter.

At the very outset, learned counsel for the petitioner has placed on record copy of the representation moved to the Superintendent, Central Jail, Faridkot, which is taken on record as Annexure P-5. 3.

He submits that for the purpose of this petition, he confines to the limited prayer that the Superintendent, Central Jail, Faridkot be SANDAL SHARMA 2024.11.22 16:14 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment

In these circumstances, considering the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner, without commenting on the merits of the case, the present petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.4 to consider and dispose of the representation dated 20.11.2024 (Annexure P-5) in accordance with law in an expeditious manner, preferrably within a period of 2 weeks from today.

Learned counsel for the petitioner is directed to send one copy of the representation to respondent No.4 through e-mail. 8.
