The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondents to re-issue him passport.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that petitioner is a 82 years old man and vide application dated 14.03.2022, has applied for re-issuance of passport. The petitioner is not involved in any criminal case still he has not been issued passport. 3.

Counsel for Union of India submits that passport authority has issued notice dated 11.12.2023 calling upon the petitioner to explain his position with respect to passport No.A1362322. 4.

In the wake of statements of both sides, the petition stands disposed of with a direction to petitioner to appear before passport authority on 10.01.2024 alongwith requisite documents and explain his position with respect to passport No.A1362322. On doing so, the passport authority shall pass an appropriate order within six weeks from 10.01.2024.
