(ORAL) Learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that it is a matter of record that about four months back, the petitioner had approached this Court seeking protection of his life and liberty at the hands of the accused persons in the FIR annexed as Annexure P-1. 2.

On a statement made by the learned State counsel that the threat perception qua the petitioner would be looked into as well as on the basis of an affidavit filed that the police would take appropriate steps to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioner is not compromised at the hands of the accused persons in FIR No.46 dated 16.10.2024 registered at Police Station Vigilance Bureau Range Amritsar, the case was thereafter adjourned, however, during the pendency of the instant petition, the private respondents, who are also accused in FIR, have not only been repeating the alleged threats to the PUNEET SACHDEVA 2025.05.13 16:00 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

CRWP-11151-2024 -2petitioner but the statement made by the learned State counsel, on instructions, that adequate protection had been provided to the petitioner through the local police, is factually incorrect. It has been asserted that after the private respondents threatened the petitioner during the pendency of the instant petition, the petitioner tried to approach the official respondents, however, in vain. 3.

Learned State counsel has, however, submitted that when the first complaint was received by the official respondents, the matter was thoroughly inquired into, however, no such threat perception to the life and liberty of the petitioner much less at the hands of the accused persons in FIR No.46 dated 16.10.2024 registered at Police Station Vigilance Bureau Range Amritsar, came to light. It has, however, still been submitted by the learned State counsel that the police is duty bound to ensure protection of lie and liberty of all its citizens and this case is no different; the police would ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioner and would take adequate steps to ensure his safety at the hands of miscreants, if and when required.

4.

In view of the submissions made by the learned State counsel, the instant petition stands dismissed. May 13th, 2025 (MANJARI NEHRU KAUL) Puneet JUDGE Whether speaking/reasoned :
