PANKAJ JAIN, J. (ORAL) Short reply by way of an affidavit of Sukhwinder Pal Singh, PPS, DSP, Sub Division Baba Bakala Sahib, Amritsar (Rural) has been filed on behalf of respondent No.1 today in Court, which is taken on record. Operative part thereof reads as under :

"4. That the Station House Officer, Police Station Khilchian, Amritsar (Rural) has reported in his aforesaid report that an enquiry relating to the subject matter of the present petition has been got conducted through ASI Sikander Lal, who has recorded the respective statements of the petitioners, wherein they have stated that both of them were already married but now they have solemnized marriage with each other without any divorce to their spouses and living happily with each other without any threat from any person.

5. That the true translation of the report dated 31.12.2023 submitted by the Station House Officer, Police Station Khilchain, Amritsar (Rural) and statements of the petitioner No. 1 and 2 are attached herewith for the kind perusal of this Hon'ble Court as Annexure R-1/T to Annexure R-3/T.

6. That so far, as the protection of life and liberty of the petitioners is concerned, the police authorities of the Amritsar (Rural) are committed and duty bound to protect their life and liberty by providing every possible help to them whenever required by them. The answering respondents undertake that necessary action will be immediately taken to ensure safety of life and liberty of the petitioners after carrying out ground level assessment and if the need be, adequate security will be provided to them in accordance with the rules and procedure." 2.

In view of above, no further order is required to be passed. 3.
