Advocate General, Punjab. **** SHEEL NAGU, CHIEF JUSTICE (Oral) The petitioner, who is aged about 72 years, has filed first application for grant of regular bail. The petitioner is alleged with the offences of cheating and criminal breach of trust in FIR No. 201 dated 23.08.2024 under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code along with Section 24 of the Immigration Act registered at Police Station Tanda, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

Certain allegations have been made against the petitioner but considering the fact that charge-sheet is filed before the trial Court after conclusion of the investigation and the fact that petitioner is 72 years of age, this Court extends the benefit of regular bail to the petitioner subject to his furnishing bail bonds for a sum of Rs.1,00,000/- with two sureties of the like amount each to the satisfaction of the trial Court/Duty Magistrate. 3. It is made clear that anything observed hereinabove shall not be construed to be an expression of opinion on the merits of the case. 4.

This order shall also remain subject to the following condition:- i) The petitioner shall plant 10 saplings of indigenous plants at a public place and submit proof in that regard by way of photographs before the concerned trial Court where the trial is pending within a period of 15 days and if there is no such intimation submitted or intimation is found to be incorrect, then the State can move an application for cancellation of his bail.
